Can Innovation Incentive Policies Improve the Innovation Performance of Knowledge Workers? Evidence from Chinese State-Owned Enterprises

Innovation by knowledge workers is the foundation of sustainable development within an organization. Chinese policy makers use various innovation incentive policies to improve performance at state-owned enterprises, which in line with China’s goal becoming “innovative country”. This study compares impacts issued central government, local governments, and enterprise level (vertical dimension) examines effectiveness varying content (horizontal dimension). The mechanism supply influences enterprises theoretically analyzed, empirical tests based on 1857 samples from field research are then conducted. results show that each vertical horizontal have a significant positive effect although effects vary. findings indicate that, along dimension, government most effective. Along salary honor impactful. Policy providers should consider differences formulate relevant workers.
